Write for us.
You don't have to be a member to contribute to our work. If you want to do something more hands-on than donate, sponsor or become a Friend, then contributing your thoughts and ideas might be the best thing for you. We publish submissions from the public on our website regularly, and share the best on our social feeds.
We accept ideas for written pieces as well as pitches for podcasts and video, but all proposals should be in written form.
We publish short and long-form opinion pieces as well as in-depth analysis and policy papers. If it's interesting, we'll run with it.
We also encourage contributors to pitch their ideas before writing anything, but we will consider previously-written submissions as well.
We do not ask contributors to make the content they submit to us exclusive to our website.
Written work published on our website will credit the author prominently. Work may be subject to slight editing for style, but we will leave the substance entirely up to the writer.
We will consider pieces on just about any subject matter and written from any perspective. Members and non-members alike are especially encouraged to contribute reasoned, thought-out, civil criticism and critique of NELF programs, projects and positions. Reflection, analysis, and criticism, even to a painful degree, is essential for learning and growth. We want everyone to feel free to contribute without being afraid of stepping on ideological toes.
We cannot offer compensation at this time, but will consider our capacity to do so in the future.
